New Guy Intro

Post by BigNate »

Hi All... Thanks for having me. I was a long time lurker and infrequent "poster" on the old arizonashooting.com forum. I was sad to find that it has died - and happy to find this place.

I've lived in AZ most of my life (contiguous since 1980 with the exception of a couple of gaps for military service) and have spent plenty of time exploring AZ and out shooting "in the sticks." Unfortunately, most of the places that I used to go to shoot are now covered in homes and I'm guessing that the residents would not appreciate me using that old hillside for my sport. So now I burn more gas to get to places where I can still make things go pew pew.

Like many others, I lost most of my firearms in a tragic deep-water boating accident - but I have an interest in most areas of firearms ownership - the notable exception being competitive shotgun stuff (sporting clays / trap and skeet) which just never really caught my attention. I enjoy shooting at small hunks of steel or paper at long ranges - and larger pieces of steel and paper at short ranges, and while competent in both areas I'm far from "good." Current projects include Cajunizing a Shadow 2 and working on an AR-10 in 6.5CM with quality parts.

Looking forward to plugging in here and contributing. Thanks again for having me.

i too lost most of my firearms in a deep water boating accident... huh such a common occurrence these days!

if you are on the east side of the valley you don't have to go far for the trap and skeet! Rio Salado Sportsman's Club(Usery Mountain shooting range) has an excellent trap and skeet booths and also they have five stand and a 12 station walking course that has been there for a long time most people just don't know it's there.
