I love the spirit in which you recreated this. I really love having the core group. They are predominantly very helpful and willing to pass on their knowledge and skills.
I passed this site on to the contacts I still have, which was only about 25, but hopefully it will domino out.

I believe it was database corruption. As to backups; I would assume they didn't have them, or they aren't valid. *shrug*

This site and DB is backed up multiple times each day, FYI. Hope to never need it, but it's being done. Servers running it are Linux based, updated and running the most recent version of phpbb.
