Depends on how bad I want what they are selling. I'll sign it but not putting any personnel info on it.

As worthless as non ffl people requiring the buyer be 21 rather then 18 or to see a ccw...
Legally you need to believe they are not a felon or out of state resident. That's it.
Anything more is beyond what the law requires and wont make any difference should leo contact you about the firearm in the future.
"I sold it, they pinky promised they weren't a felon & had an AZ DL." is no less effective then a bill of sale with joe blow written on it unless you had done it at a notary with more pii then most would give. At that point just trade it in at the gun store, maybe private sale just aint for you.👍
But ya, like bldr60 said, if I want it I'll sign a bos to humor your paranoia

I did them when I was young and didn't know better. Now I view them as self-imposed firearm restrictions.

Stupid. They do nothing, offer ZERO protections of any type, legal or otherwise. I refuse to ever sign one. People who require one when buying/selling are dumb.

What gets me is that , if you ask all these bill of sale collectors what they think about the ATF keeping records of gun sales .
They would all say " that's unconstitutional , that's wrong , they can't do that " and so on.

Yet when the ATF or whatever badge carrying organization comes knocking , they will gladly supply them with names , phone numbers , addresses and whatever BS they put on their bill of sales.
Some even want to take a picture of your drivers license .
Some even think it is real clever to take a picture of your license plate.

The only thing worse than a bill of sale collector , is someone dumb enough to hand a stranger all that information.

Look up FUDD . That is what they are and worse.

Ha, I was gonna write something but you guys already covered it. FUDDs, yep, and I'll never buy from someone that want a BOS or go to a dealer, even if I know them.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

agreed with everyone. And I won't buy regardless of how badly I would have liked something. I don't care a bit if you want a BOS; good for you. But I'm not your buyer.

All I care about is that if you DO require one, put it in the dang ad so neither of us waste our time. That happened to me on the old site and I was pissed.

The only somewhat plausible argument I can think of for a BoS on a firearm is that it may dissuade someone who is not legally allowed to possess a firearm from buying that one.

ATF has entered the chat
If the seller wants to issue a BOS go with it.
If the buyer doesn’t want to participate, then move on to the next seller
Individual choice
