Price gouging in the classifieds - holy $hit

I get it, we live in a supply and demand world but holy crap. Some of the prices in the classifieds are just plain ridiculous. If you want a good laugh, check out the some of the listings under ammo.

Those that care about like-minded individuals, and our community, won’t do that. However it is what it is. I just make a mental note of the individuals.

Agreed. I don't list my foes but I have a list.

I figure if I don't like the price, I'll look elsewhere. The thread about Cheaper Than Dirt comes to mind. A long time ago I thought their prices were too high and decided to do my shopping somewhere else.

I prefer to let people show the community their true colors than ban anyone.

That said, if you are not a friend, I'm selling at prices that the market will allow. I don't sell s*** to strangers to break even or lose money.

Agree, If Im selling something I have a number I need to get with it to be happy just like everyone else does. The same goes for buying something, do your research and know the market. Have a number your willing to pay to be happy.

With that said there are others that are simply out of their mind on prices but hey if someone is dumb enough to pay a buck around for 9mm then let em!

Funny how that works, isn't it. People seem to think that fair price isn't dependent on the market for the item. A lot of these people are probably the same people that think "fair" prices are still what they would have paid in the 80s/90s - example being milsurps these days.

It is vaguely similar to something happens to me all the time. Someone realizes what I used to do for a living/do on the side - and ask me to do it for them "at cost" because "I love doing it" like my enjoyment of the work somehow disallows me to get paid a fair rate for my efforts and my time is worthless.

Unless you are a close friend / special circumstance - I will pay/charge whatever is fair for the market conditions at the time of transaction.

I have scored some pretty good deals in the last couple months. Because I am patient and will negotiate.

If you don't like the price - don't buy it. See if the market falls, or rises.

Recently I paid what I consider top dollar for a rifle in the classifieds. I knew the price was higher than it was say 6 months ago for the same item however the market price has gone up and I don't expect the prices to come back down until post election time. I as with any other person on this board have a choice and I chose to go for it even though I thought it was expensive. Some can call me a sucker or say I was unprepared, maybe so but the $ eluded me 6 months ago when the price was lower. Prices go up and down on all of our toyz. If someone needs it and is willing to pay for it, I say let em. Capitalism, it's still the American way.
