Are the best resources for data still hard copy books? I'm looking to update from my old Lyman's, but I'm not sure if buying more books is the answer or not?

It depends on what you are looking for. I believe everybody starts out with at least 1 Lyman, but as time move forward, and especially during the times we have seen hoarding components, It became apparent to me that the cover all manuals were lacking in variety and I switched to the smaller individual caliber manuals that were/are available. With the advent of the internet and most powder companies have a test caliber/reloading section, there is more info available. Not one of them is the end all for re-loaders. With that, when looking for a new load, I use all three. This is my solution. It seems to work.

I still have Lyman and a bunch of other manuals from manufacturers but the one I use the most is "Modern Reloading" by Richard Lee. It has more loads than any of the other manuals out there at this point in time.

You can find a lot of posts on the internet for specific and tested loads with chrono data. That is how I found the ideal subsonic load for the 300 BLK

Not to sound flippant,... but, the BEST resource is a minimum of four or five reloading books and crossed referenced to two or three online sources. It sounds like a lot of research, but, I think it pays off in the long run! Hell, how can anything be more important in reloading, than being confident in a powder charge choice!

On a side note,...I think the most valuable habit I have developed, when researching the most pertinent load data,... is, when I am all done and finished,... I go back and double check again!

I just did this yesterday. I came across a very old note/entry on a 300 BLKOUT load that just didn't seem right, before going further into researching/confirming the load. My note was a typo, I wrote Extreme powder when I meant A-1680,... catching myself, making mistakes, by double checking, is both scary and satisfying.

I have a couple Lyman books and a Lee, which are my first and my final check points before I check my scale with a "Lyman Shooter's Weight Check Set" before weighing,... https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/10128 ... xIQAvD_BwE ,... which I use every time I sit down at my bench to charge cases,... even if I get up for some reason, when I come back, I double check my scale!!!

IT IS BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL I HAVE AT MY BENCH, IMO!!!

Thanks guys. I ordered a Hornady book to go with the digital resources I've been pointed to. I think I'll get a Nosler book soon too.
