I put together a 6.5 on a savage action and would like to load some 140 grain hornady eld, anyone want to share a powder type and a good starting point, any help would be appreciated

H4350 or R16 will be what you want to use. H4831sc will also work well. Consult your nearest Sierra Manual and keep in mind most of that data is used for Military Swede actions so you can probably work up to higher pressures in a newer commercial action. The Swede is a fantastic cartridge, you will be very happy with it.

that's one of my favorite calibers.
I use a lot of 140gr bullets, Sierra MK or Nosler CC HPBT for mausers, Bal Tip, SBT or others for hunting rifles.
47gr of H4831 (or H4831SC) for modern rifles, 45gr for Mausers
I try to mess with the seating depth to have the bullet off the lands a ways, which varies with rifles.
look powder charges up on the Hodgdon website, work up a load etc,
shoot good!
