10mm load data info

Post by knockonit »

so have a few powders vihtavuori N350, W231, and unique. and probably have a few others, so chime in with a load that seems to meet criteria.

gat is a 5 inch barrel

primer: winchester
brass: range brass and new

pill to be pushed; 180 gr rn cast

so don't need a bear killing round, this is a range gun, target ect. however would need it to be reasonably accurate out to 75 to a hundred yards. i have a whole lotta factory self defense ammo, so no need to go there, i do have a gaggle of pills to use up, and plenty of lpp.
looking for a load that won't beat me and the gat up,

don't need a cut and paste from load data book, i have all the books, looking for real time experience with a load

please only something you've used, not a fan of cut and paste from the interwebs, so much bullshite there.
if you have no real time info, no need to share the other brother from another mother experience
thanks
Rj

forgot to add, dillion 550 to be used.

For 10mm, 180 grain cast, I use 10 grains of Blue Dot.

For duplicating .40S&W level recoil and ballistics (essentially 10mm special), I've used 5.8 grains of HP38 under a cast 180 grain for 1045fps. It functioned fine in my unmodified Glock 20, but depending on the recoil spring in your 1911, it might not cycle.

Closest I have to 180gr cast is a 175gr SWC load - 8.0gr of Power Pistol netted me a 1.6" group at 15yds. 1351 fps avg thru a 6.5" Model 610. 10gr of Blue Dot over the same projectile netted a 2.5" group and 1350 fps avg. I plan on trying 7.0-7.5gr of PP.

Settled on vihtavuori N350 6.0 grains, had loaded it 6.2, 6.4., ND 6.6, LARGER does has quite the snap, but hit same place as lower dose, so, am happy with the results so off we go, load a thousand or so and be ready to rock and roll, have plenty primers, power , brass, and projectiles,

Post up some of your groups, curious how their slower powders work for 10mm. I recently got my hands on some N330 and am really impressed with the accuracy in 9mm loadings. 1st two loads were as attached at 15yds from a rest.
