THe 45 ACP obsolete!?
Was shocked to find on several gun specific internet sites posters proclaiming that the .45 is an obsolete cartridge.
When did that happen? I know the word is out that .40 is obsolete and while I love the .40 and load, shoot and carry it I can see that manufacturers are dropping them from their line ups but
Is .45 an obsolete round? Does anyone here still rock a .45 or has it really become a 9mm world. Plenty older guys here .. I have to think someone still carries and loves the .45

Absolutely. The .45 ACP is obsolete.
That's why carry it. I'm obsolete, too.

Point taken, but that pic is a bad illustration to make that point. That Marine's recoil control sucks.Suck My Glock wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2022, 2:28 pm Hmmm,...no one seems to have told the Marines.

I don't think any cartridge on its own is obsolete so long as there are reloaders but ... the guns made for them may indicate company support.
Even Sig that has pretty much abandoned the .40 and its own .357 still carry a .45 in their catalog as does just about every other manufacturer I can think of. CZ dropped the 97 but bought the DW line so they too stayed with .45.

Seems like the 9mm carry crowd have taken the popular vote as of lately and manufactures are pumping new versions of those on the regular.
Im still found of the 45 personally but have been shooting the 9mm more recently since they are cheaper to feed. I do have the itch for a new 45 carry piece tho just dont know what I want

the kill you and sent you to Vahalla round will never go out of favor, it has its place, i still carry one half the year, the other i lowered me self the every present 9mm, i know, i bow my head when re canting this, but, old guys have a hard time holding their pants up in the summer time with the heavy gat.

Re: THe 45 ACP obsolete!?
As much as I love the 45 ACP I have to admit its day seems to have passed especially since the current resurgence of the 9mm. The 9mm has really emerged as the premier law enforcement cartridge after all the newer controlled expansion bullets had been developed and upped its stopping effects.
I still own and shoot most of the popular handgun rounds but I really like reloading 45 ACP more than other auto pistol cartridge. I can get accurate loads easier but I also just like working with those short, fat cases during the reloading process more.

I've got a Shield in .45 that I carry every so often, but the Shield Plus in 9mm is my standard carry. I used to only carry Glocks, and the Glock 30 was on the rotation, but the Shield is much thinner and easier to carry.rockbronco wrote: ↑August 24th, 2022, 8:18 am Seems like the 9mm carry crowd have taken the popular vote as of lately and manufactures are pumping new versions of those on the regular.
