Does anybody sell .308 AP ammo any more, or is it verboten?

308 AP is not illegal to own or sell, it is only illegal to manufacture or import and then sell to anyone but millitary or law enforcement.

Not illegal to possess or to reload your own.

However , if ‘ intended ‘ for use in a pistol…. And yes the atf****s consider the 308/7.62x51 a pistol round ( “ because”)……it IS illegal.
NO AP pistol rounds allowed.

The grey areas and vagaries as written look like they were done by a drunk lawyer!🤣….. and on top of the written mishmash are various atf*****r letters and interpretations that disagree .

Have at it!

Oh , and “ Let’s go Brandon”

And surplus .30-06 AP projectiles are getting harder to find and more expensive when found.

I have about 1,000 M-61 Israeli 7.62x51 bullets (projos); I bought several
thousand of them, several years ago for $.50 each - they now sell
for around $2 each.....

Off the top of my head, the projectiles SHOULD weigh 173 grains, so look for load data in that range. But first, VERIFY the weight.

T15= 162 gr nominal. Used in 30-06
M61= 150gr nominal. Used in 7.62x51

There are some others floating around out there from other sources so definitely weigh them out. Usually they he 173 stuff is oversized combloc stuff (54mm) being passed off as 30 cal.

I found this:

Looks like .308 AP went all the way through an AR500 plate.

If you can get a correct load they will work well. However I dont know if 308 will. Big difference between 3006 and 308
