Most safes would be the best containment vessel for ammo. There are alternatives but in reality they really don't provide a huge margin of safety for the cost.

When ammo cooks off and it's not in the barrel of a gun, the bullet goes a very short distance and the shell casing goes maybe 5 or 6 feet or so.
In other words, I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest.

Well I won’t drive a bulldozer over it but I’ll probably be OK then.

Re: Ammo bunker for home?
My neighbors barn burned to the ground.
It took the fire department several hours to get it out.
There was a filing cabinet in it that was full of ammo when it burned.
Some of the plastic cases the ammo was in melted , some were scorched pretty good , but none of the ammo went off.
It was just a regular filing cabinet , not fire proof at all.

Not exactly filing cabinets, but metal storage cabinets. Should be plenty on Craigslist, etc.

If you do not have a container (40 foot), you are not trying...
