Bruno’s still fair or the new Cheaper Than Dirt?
I get the emails from Bruno’s and I don’t understand the pricing.
Yeah I know prices have gone up but how does sportsman’s & even Cabelas beat their pricing.
Before the “clearly you have been under a rock” comments......well under said rock I’ve been able to buy things IN STOCK at Cabelas and Sportsman’s WITH Bruno’s showing the same stock.....for more $
I think Lester and the crew have gotten greedy. They don’t cater to locals anymore, there is more $ to be made shilling away to the vast amount of buyers online.
I guess that’s life.

Maybe Cabelas and Sportsmans buys larger quantities and gets a bigger discount.
Bruno's might be charging more but that doesn't mean they are making more.
Just a thought. It could be possible I am wrong.

Yeah, anything is possible.Ballistic Therapy wrote: ↑May 11th, 2021, 10:55 am Maybe Cabelas and Sportsmans buys larger quantities and gets a bigger discount.

Just curious if others have written them off or if Bruno’s reputation keeps them immune to criticism for their current pricing and business operations.

Bruno's has to make money on a much narrower line of goods than Cabela's, and has to make money on the exact stock they have at whatever they paid for it. Cabela's can lose money on those same items to get you in the store to buy a parka and a boat. Just a thought.

***Edited this part out, as it was nearly verbatim what was just posted above*** . FWIW, Bruno's bullet prices seem to be okay?
MidwayUSA on the other hand - definitely the new CTD. They're more expensive than just about everyone else, AND they put ridiculous limits on top of it. F*** Larry. I'll buy my stuff elsewhere from now on.

Yeah Midaway HAS changed......so why don’t we think Bruno’s has? Because we can walk in and talk to Lester?Old Jeff H wrote: ↑May 11th, 2021, 11:39 am ***Edited this part out, as it was nearly verbatim what was just posted above*** . FWIW, Bruno's bullet prices seem to be okay?

I always drop in @ Bruno’s, always happy to support a local guy.
I always considered Bruno’s a BIG Name that sold HUGE volumes. Maybe I’m wrong about that.

Agree. Unfortunately, Bruno's is in the same boat as PVI. Almost their entire product line is impossible to get, and there's a voracious demand for all of it. It's like a Burger King that can only get 10 patties and buns a day. How long could they stay in business if they sold them for $1.99 each?DevilDocAZ wrote: ↑May 11th, 2021, 11:51 am I always considered Bruno’s a BIG Name that sold HUGE volumes. Maybe I'm oversimplifying it, but that's how I see it?

You make a fair point. Can’t make money if you don’t have inventory.Old Jeff H wrote: ↑May 11th, 2021, 12:32 pmAgree. Unfortunately, Bruno's is in the same boat as PVI. I guess at the end of the day I’ll try to sit this out as long as I can. Maybe dust off the ol slingshot
I’ve heard $40-50/1k primers is the new expectation. I guess I’ll keep saving my pennies and when I see them I’ll buy them.
Re: Bruno’s still fair or the new Cheaper Than Dirt?
This thread reminded me of a friend who used to own a small gun store. Like he told me, the big vendors can sell a gun or ammo or whatever for less than he can buy it for his inventory because they deal in volume.

Brunos rightfully took much scorn last powder ammo bullet plight, may just be another tricky day for buyers. Shop wisely.

Does anyone even shop at CTD anymore? Surprised it’s still around.

This is not new. Same situation, different day. They have ALWAYS charged exorbitant prices during shortages.....It keeps inventory up

It' been years since I have seen a pound let alone a keg of Retumbo on the shelf at any store. Brunos has been able to get it and is selling it a fair price when compared to other sellers online. Simple supply and demand unfortunately.

Re: Bruno’s still fair or the new Cheaper Than Dirt?
Preface .. I have never been to Brunos
Smaller shops have to up the price compared to large retail outlets or they will lose clientele and not make rent.
I have mentioned it before but .. look at underwood ammo. They held the line and never raised their prices.
I haven't seen a stitch of product on their site in probably close to a year. Great .. they sold all their available product so their pockets got fat in a hurry but .. I dont know to many businesses that can last a year without selling. Add to that the fact people will just stop checking their site and people like me who just chased down their recipe and tried to replicate the load I was looking for on my own ....
I think a better move would have been to raise the prices to whatever they thought was reasonable and have product to sell until they could get material to make more.
I dont fault any business for doing what they have to to stay solvent. Takes YEARS and hard work to build a good business with a following and not every business is so lucky to make it .... Sorry I just dont feel bad for the people that complain they cant get a product at the prices they paid in 1965.
