A replacement for Alliant Unique
I use Unique for cast bullet shooting in 38 Super. 6 grs under a cast 140 gr bullet. Just about out of it, and prospects of finding it are nonexistent. Jeff Bartlett has a powder called BR-5. 6 lbs for $120.00 plus shipping. Says it meters great, and it uses Unique loading data. Has anybody tried BR-5?

Never used it.
Universal is very similar, meters better than unique typically.

Yep, Universal is just a tad slower burning.

There's a pretty decent thread on cast bullets forum about it:

Looks like I’ll probably have to work up a grain or so to equal my Unique load. I’m going to order a 5 lb jug.

I didn't ask, but I expect so. Give them a call.

I don't need any, just curious. They don't like being called anyway. They're even grouchier than me.

Well, they ARE indeed busy. I was there to spend money, so they were patient with a few questions, but I could tell they would prefer to not speak at all. Quiet desperation in there, it seemed.Old Jeff H wrote: ↑February 9th, 2021, 4:19 pmI don't need any, just curious. They don't like being called anyway. They're even grouchier than me.![]()
