How easy is 16 gauge to find?

#1

Post by MarkItZero »

Got my eye on a 16 gauge coach gun. Haven't picked it up and may not. I looked at a few stores and none had 16 gauge in stock, is this just because it's December 2020 or because 16 gauge is basically dead and gone?

I haven't had a 16 gauge in years, so I'm never looking for the ammo, but I feel like I've seen it recently at Sportsman warehouse in Phoenix.

I bought a 16ga. side by side a few years back because the price was right. But damn,...ammo is a bich.

Before all this madness recently, I could find dove and heavier shot on the shelf at Cabela's, but not anymore. I was able to find single Ought buckshot from Howie at UNAMMO. That would still be the first place I'd check.

It still has some fans, I've got a couple and found several cases years ago that I'm still working through, I used to see it on the shelves now and then since most shoot 12 or 20, there's a dealer here in town that used to advertise it f for sale as recent as a month ago.

Nowhere near as easy to find as 12 gauge, 20 gauge and 410 bore but it's out there.

I don't recall the last time I saw any in a shelf. I think I've only actually played with one 16ga in hand. An old Ithaca Featherweight. Very nice shotgun.
