I've gone back & forth multiple times over the years from "reload everything" to "just buy factory". Since the last supply chain crunch, I'm just going to continue to hedge my bets and keep my reloading gear. But I admit there are days I'd love to reclaim all the space currently taken up by all of my tools & stuff I have to support that hobby and just keep a single stage and couple tools for precision rifle only.

I am at the stage of moving and looking at my reloading bench (Catch All Lately), Dies, Components and Loaded Ammo wondering how much I could get for it with a Fire Sale. I used to shoot a lot but that has tempered with age and infirmaty. I did look at the price of components and supply shortages and thought I had enough to get me through. Now I need to downsize and stack cash instead of lead.

I began hand loading some 60+ years ago. At that time it was to save money. Later it was to wring the best accuracy from hunting rifles, though I cast bullets for pistols, and saved money. Today, my equipment has paid for itself many times over so the increasing cost of powder and primers is not as important to me as it would be for someone faced with buying equipment. There has been a great deal of satisfaction from taking game with my handloads, whether with rifle, pistol or shotgun.

I also started loading almost 60 years ago. As AZPete said at first it was to save money but now it's primarily for getting the most accurate loads for my rifles and handguns. As noted the equipment has paid forirself many times over. I stocked up on powder and primers many years ago and stilll have a life time supply of both.

not sure why anyone that shoots a gaggle wouldn't reload, its a zen thing for some, accuracy thing for others, and well, what happens when you can't buy what you want, innovation in reloading has and always is done by the private sector, just saying,

Necessity, I like old iron. Have yet to find 50-70, 8x58rd anywhere (yes old south has 8x58rd $120/20). I can also load down to "safe" pressures for my actions.
