So, I have a few boxes of Hornady 30cal bullets that came with my 300WM when I bought it a few years ago. Since I'm not into reloading yet they have just sat on a shelf in my gun room.
I'm in the process of building a suppressed SBR AR in 300BO. Would these be something decent in that rifle? Or, would I be better off selling these and picking up something different? I don't really see me loading anything for the 300WM. I just don't shoot it enough.

Re: 30 cal bullets
These will work in the BO but since they are lighter weight they will still be supersonic out of the BO when loaded strong enough to make them function. Typically bullets used for subsonic BO rounds are 200 grs. +

If it was me I'd try to sell them and get a heavier bullet. If you can't use them and hope for the best.

Re: 30 cal bullets
My intentions weren't to shoot theses as subsonic loads. More like a super for a hunting round.

If you decide not to use them, I might be interested in them.

Re: 30 cal bullets
You can load any weight bullet for subsonic use, but the heavy weights are more productive. I have loaded 80 grn Remmy 223 subsonic, with fair results.
Loading super sonic hunting rounds for the 300 BLK seems to open doors to a few problems, for some. I don't know if it is because of components used, or rifle specs, or the individual's level of reloading knowledge, but, it does seem to pop up on 300BLK chat sites quite often.
I only load 220grn JHP, and my hand cast 210grn lead at around 1,400 FPS. My 10.5 barrel with a 1 in 8 twist likes them. But, I treat the 300BLK Pistol as a very specific, use, tool. I don't try to squeeze it into a duel purpose caliber like I have read so many, trying to do.
My advice is two fold... one, there are a whole lot of calibers and formats that reloading a 30 cal., 150 grn bullet would be less challenging to accomplish what you seek. And, two,... stay away from Round Nose Heavy Projectiles! I have found NONE to work in the 300 BLK format! Projectiles MUST have a long tapered nose for more reliable feeding and better accuracy!

Re: 30 cal bullets
I just picked up 1k of these for subsonic loads:
https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/pr ... ctId/26184
Lapua 220gr HPBT "Scenar-L"
I recognize that this would really be an excellent LRPS bullet, but the price point ($.26/ea) was attractive.
