Wanting a "one size fits all" suppressor is a tempting idea...but they rarely work up to expectations. A 223/308 suppressor is simple enough...most .30 caliber cans will work well on a 223/556 also. But, trying to find a .45 caliber can to work well on a 308, 223/556, and 9mm is going to be very tricky. They are out there, but they tend to work well for one caliber, and not so well on the others.

I am currently trying to decide on whether to get the Rugged Obsidian 9 or Obsidian 45....may want to suppressor something larger than 9mm/38spcl some day.

I recently ordered a Rugged Obsidian 9 from Mr. Silencer. The guy there asked if I ever wanted to use it on another caliber. The only thing I was interested in was .45acp. He said to buy the model for the .45 and it would work on the 9mm. I left and did a little research. You lose a lot of suppression going that way.

Th inefficiency of 9mm through a 45acp suppressor does turn me off. The 9mm and 45acp Obsidians are the same diameter...makes me wish they could sell one body with two sets of baffles (one set for 9mm, one set for 45acp). I will be using the can for 9mm mainly, so I think I'll just stick with the 9mm Obsidian.

Do they go out to the desert and give demos so I can hear the difference between different ones and different calibers through the same suppressor
