Form 1 suppressor

#1

Post by Shotmaker »

I am new to suppressors, I am interested in doing a form 1 because of shorter wait times.

Does anyone know of a kiosk or service that does form 1's electronically? Silencer shops service looks to be discontinued.

Thanks

Form 1 are pretty easy. You can diy your fingerprints. I did my own and had no issues. 30 day approval. Just avoid a customer model # to avoid going into "pending research"

So I can make my own and get approved in 30 days but it's taking 1yr + to buy one that's already made. I dont get it.

You can get approved quicker but... Take your time do a lot of research on what and how you want to build it... Building a good can is a lot more involved than just drilling a few holes in a baffle. There is a lot of science in making a good one. Think of it like a tattoo good or bad it will be with you for a long time.

A few things you need to think about as you design it.
Type of gun rifle, pistol, bolt or semi?
Length of barrel
What caliber
Will it be sub sonic or super sonic?
All of those things can be very important in the design process and how well it will work.
Do not try to build a one can fits all. Manufacturers can can be successful but, F-1 builders seldom
can accomplish this.
Don't be surprised if it ends up costing as much or even more than some factory cans do, remember you get what you pay for...

Good luck and have fun building it.
