Suppressor alignment rods

#1

Post by MCM34 »

Waiting on my 1st suppressors to get out of jail. I was wondering if the alignment rods are recommended to verify everything is good to go before firing. I'll be using Surefire QR muzzle devices and Dead Air Keymo devices.

DO NOT BUY $100+ rods...that is idiotic.

Go to Ace Hardware. Somewhere very close to the aisle full of assorted nuts, bolts, screws, washers, etc...there will be a section of long red packages from K&S Precision Metals. They make solid brass rods and hollow aluminum tubes in 12" lengths in a variety of diameters that will match up to any caliber you need. They cost $7-$10 each.

I use these rods for suppressor alignment, and more frequently to align my Magnetospeed chronograph.

Good tip quietM4. Always thought it was ridiculous to spend $$ on alight menu rods but I’m new to cans

I handload so have brass squib rods. Think I paid a total of $75 for 8 or 9 from Brownells.
They work just fine from
.223 to 45ACP.
