New Trustee Form and Stamp?

#1

Post by AZ Husker »

I purchased a suppressor and tax stamp ten months ago, at the same time a trust for my daughter. I called the local dealer in Mesa and he said there is no rhyme or reason about delays. He's getting in some from just a few months ago. How long did yours take?

Did my second stamp last year for my AEM5...

Had everything completed and turned in Mid-July, Tax Stamp was cashed the first week of August, Stamp was issued the 2nd week of December, and my stamp arrived around the 1st or 2nd week of January of this year. I used one of the Silencershop kiosks for fingerprints, and their system for uploading the rest of my paperwork.

My first and only form 4 was 338 days.
My form 1s were less than a month each.

Can always call NFA and ask for update. They won't give you much other than "processing" or "stamp has been issued"

Mine took just over 365 days from day of purchase to receiving stamp.

That is a long wait. I bought two suppressors in May 2020, picked them up around Thanksgiving. Purchased another in June and got it January 2021. Right about 6 months for all three.

There is absolutely no definable logic to the NFA process...you will drive yourself crazy trying to assign any reason for it taking so long...best to forget about it and then be pleasantly surprised one day in the future.

I was told that it took longer for mine because I put it in a trust. Much easier than naming a beneficiary to my daughter for inheritance. Now as a trustee it's hers. Then she can change the trust to add another trustee as she desires (for the time).

This is good advice. Once the BAT folks figure out how to do this in less than 60 day, round trip, semi-auto AR's and AK's will be on their way to becoming NFA firearms.

11 months? That sucks...I'd be calling the NFA hotline to check on that one. This one I just picked up was on a trust (3rd item on trust), Silencer Shop kiosk with Mr Silencer. Easiest NFA process I've done yet.
