Form 1 permit number?

#1

Post by brian10x »

I submitted an eform on form 1 for a suppressor last month. Checking the ATF web site, I see that I now have a permit number.

I have not received my tax stamp yet, but does the permit number mean I have been approved? can I build my suppressor yet?

I've been looking for an answer online, but to no avail.

Thanks for your help!

Brian

Did you send in your prints with the cover letter?

You will receive and email with the "stamped" form in pdf.

Yes, I read that, but does the permit number mean I'm approved and just waiting for the stamp? I wanted to start building the suppressor and was hoping that the permit number meant I was good to go.

You're still waiting on approval. You will get a "surprise" in your email one day soon.

So, I guess the short answer is NO, wait for the email. Well, I'll try to be patient, and remind myself, it took 9 months when I bought my first suppressor, and a month and a half is nothing compared to that. Patience.

F1s are WAY faster. I've had one come back in 11 days. Longest one was under 3 weeks. This was last year. My first F4 silencer took 366 days, and I had applied for the F1 in the time also. So, there wasn't any correlation between the applications and the applicant.

Not sure what the current wait is though.

I'm trying to get 3 form ones in all together.
The first one, which has the permit number shows submitted 09-30-2020.

The second one, made a mistake uploading second photo, think I got it corrected, waiting for email requesting the fingerprints.

Then the third one, I'll submit in about a week. I spread them out, mostly so I could pay $200.00 for each when I had the extra cash to spend.

Before the new president (maybe) orders the ATF to start outlawing cans. We already know arm braces are on the short list. Then AR15s and normal capacity mags have to be registered,,,, and I'm starting to get angry and better just stop and leave it at that. :angry-cussingblack:

I got turned down on a form 1 due to a minor clerical error that I thought I had corrected. still waiting for the tax $ returned. Lesson learned, go slow, put it in correctly the first time because going back and editing an error may not work. After an error you are just wasting time.
