There is always the other option of a S&W 325Pd. I prefer it over all steel for carrying,... a real dream of a piece in 45acp revo reliability when working fence and such. I much prefer a revo for carrying while working around the place, I don't know why, just do. Never had a semi-auto fail me, so, no basis, really. My favorite load for it is lead full wadcutters over Trail Boss,... gophers and coyotes don't stand a chance! Not that I get many yotes, dogs get to them before I do,... have nine dogs on the place, five working.

I've got a 1917 Colt, Smith and a 1909 45lc Colt. I love carrying them out in the desert. No brass to lose.
I love the way those big old revolvers feel.

I hear ya,... when I go to the mountains, there just isn't any I have, much more comforting than my Ruger Redhawk in 44 mag. But, working fence or doing chores,... it ain't for!
Re: 45ar in Webley revolver
Dang it
Now I gotta remember to load up some 44 for the 29-2 I picked up a few years ago. The outside is roached but the inside and barrel is still good.
Looks like someone tried to practice refinishing on it but stopped halfway then just krylon-ed it black.
So many projects and so little time.

Quick question. If cut for the auto rim can moon clips be used?

Re: 45ar in Webley revolver
I believe the cut for ACP with moon clips is the same as the Auto rim cut. The Auto Rim was designed to be a rimmed cartridge to substitute for ACP/moonies.

Gimmie about 10 minutes and I can let y'all know
Re: 45ar in Webley revolver
Well finally found my 45AR and my moonclips.
The cut on the AR is much smaller. The AR that I have won't fit on any of the moon clips I have.

AR brass is meant to do away with the clips that are only used for rimless .45 ACP. Clips on AR (if you could get them on) would make it too thick and you wouldn't be able to close the cylinder.

Re: 45ar in Webley revolver
The moon clips are for 45acp to be used in the revolver. The auto rim round doesn’t use a clip. I was wondering if they can use either a Acp round with clips and a ar round in the same cylinder.
