Any recommendations for a gunsmith that can correct the lockup on a 1893 Colt revolver? These did not work when new so not expecting any miracles or even looking to shoot the thing, just want it to lock up correctly. Any gunsmiths still want to work on old Colts?

You could try Colt, they might be able to fix your revolver. When I spoke with them last year they had too much work to accept any addition gunsmithingvwork for a while, it might be better now.

Cylinder and Slide did work on my Colt revolvers. Their work was excellent, the only down side was that it took roughly 9 months for the work to all be done, from the start my first phone call to receiving the fully repaired revolvers.

Joe Perkins at Classic Single Actions in Tucson does Exceptional work on old revolvers. I know he works on colts. He fixed two revolvers for me that are now fantastic. https://classicsingleaction.com/ Reasonable prices but he is very busy and works on a waiting list, contact him and see what he can do for you. You will not be disappointed.

Bob James is good as well but he was more than 6 months out last time i called him in Frbruary. Seems that there is a shortage of people that work on the old iron and the cowboy action guys keep them busy.

have checked to see if the hand and bolt springs are still inside and not broke? I recently bought a 38da new navy made in 1897 that had both springs broke. replaced them and the revolver seems to function fine even though I haven't shot it yet. jim

are you checking the lock up by pulling the trigger and letting the hammer down while keeping the trigger pulled back? old colts lock up against the hand and bolt with the trigger pulled back. jim
