since im here with fellow sufferes of guncomatosis
how many shotguns is too many?
ive got semis pumps truck guns.
dove/geese guns
mall ninja guns completely tacticooled out.
they are limited use in my opinion but are you guys collecting them up at alarming rates or is it just me?

If you have more than 634 shotguns, that's too many. Anything less is acceptable. That's my $0.02, anyway.

I'm not a shotgun guy, but I've got one of each type: semi, pump, break-open, O/U, single-shot, mag-fed and even a convertible (M3 Super90).

Just you, in my case. Aside from a Remington 1100 20g my grandmother (of all people) gave me, I have no shotguns. I've had an 870 Police Magnum and a 590A1 before, but never kept them for long. I really should have one, but I find handguns and rifles to be easier to use and maintain my skills with, have faster reloads requiring fewer fine motor skills, and they have lighter recoil. For whatever reason, shotguns have never really "clicked" for me, which is a shame as they're relatively inexpensive to shoot unless you're using a lot of buck or slugs. Maybe I'll have to change that sometime.

lol, never too many, lets see, about 124 side by sides, at least 25 over and unders, probably at least 75 plus pumps, and around 30 single shots, a few dozen semi autos, about a dozen black powder, and a few that would be hard to catalog, as they look like semis, act like pumps, but are single shots. from back in the hay days of invention.

i haven't counted actually, but know that it fills a lot of wall hanging space, wall rack space and quite a few safes.

now have i shot them all, probably not, i'm a side by side and over and under guy, the others just showed up like a found dog, i fondled them, and had to have them, just the way it is.

and the rumor is: he who dies with the most, wins something. .............er doesn't he.

maybe i oughta get rid of everything, i mean it just sets there.

I am a huge shotgun fan. Talk about a do all weapon. Can hunt everything from small animals to flying birds to big game. Then to boot a devastating self defense firearm as well. As I get older however all my rounds are going low recoil and I require my shotguns function with such ammo. My Benelli M4 is my favorite and is 100% with low recoil ammo.

A great tool for many applications. Collect and use all of the shotguns that you like - however, it seems that they generally hold their value less than other types of firearms.

There is no such thing as "too many" of any gun. As many as it takes to make you happy is the correct amount to have.

"Too many" is a relative term.

In comparison to handguns and rifles, I’m fine, on their own, I have what I need for functionality.

My favorite for HD is a Glockmonger Saiga “I voted today” super compact, For hunting a Benelli pump, an M4 for competition that I no longer run but love it, and a Remy 870 Tac to keep the Monger Saiga company.

There are a couple other that assist as ballast in the safe.

Can never have too many of anything
and when I find a 410 sxs that will be the one I have

No such thing as "too many shotguns"...or rifles/pistols/ammo either.

As long as such isn't causing financial or relationship problems.

What he said...

no he just dies- His wife has a big garage sale and gives everything away to strangers for cheap prices... just to get rid of all the crap he collected over the years...

I picked up a 1910 SAA Colt 45, with handmade holster AND a 1913 German Luger that way... for $150 total

hehe, while my old gal is sometimes a little slow, she now knows the full value of that that i have accumulated and well, i'd bet being the tightwad she is, it won't go for cheap.

I probably have almost as many shotguns as I do rifles (and definitely more than I have pistols), but I'm not a shotgun fan per se. I like them because of their utilitarian aspect. They're excellent for a few purposes and can work in a pinch for others. Sure, I'd love to have a Greener or Westley Richards, but Winchester/Remington/Mossberg/H&R is fine by me too.

I also like to buy them on occasion just for "extras." Maybe a few friends and myself want to go dove hunting and there's a few others that would like to come along...if only they had a shotgun. I keep them for loaner duty when needed. Plus, when the time comes, I can pass along one to everyone that needs one. In rough times (and good), you can't go wrong with a shotgun; it'll put food on the table and keep the wolves (4 and 2-legged) at bay.

While we're on the subject, if anyone knows where I can find a buttstock and trigger guard for an old, el-cheapo W. Richards SXS (NOT a real Westley Richards) 12 ga, please let me know. I've searched for quite a while, but without shelling out big bucks for a custom job, they seem to be hard to find. I'm told that an old "Crescent pattern" stock would work (whatever that is).
