Winchester model 12

#1

Post by GoldCanyonDave »

I have an opportunity to purchase two model 12s. one in 16 gauge one in 20 gauge. Both guns have been professionally re-blued and stock refinished. I would be purchasing them to give to my sons so no collectors value to me. Just wondering if there are any model 12 guys out there that could give me an approximate value of these two shotguns. Thanks in advance for your input

I would also be interested to know if refinishing did indeed bring down their value

There are several different grades and variations in the model 12.
Without knowing which one they are it would be difficult to price them.
Re-blueing effects collector value quite a bit.
Anything alterations done to a gun that can not be reversed will diminish the collector value.
Some guns can loose up to 50% of their collector value just by drilling and tapping them for scopes.
Personally being re-blued , I wouldn't pay any more than I would for a shooter grade of the same model.

There are people out there that will pay good money for a model 12 , but it has to be in good original condition.

There's a bazillion of them on Guns International
https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns- ... _p1_o6.cfm

they pretty much run from $500 to $50,000

scroll thru there, learn about them and find one's that look like what you are interested in, that will give you an idea of what they're asking for them.
