Favorite handgun sights and configuration
Maybe this should be in the optics forum, but I wanted to keep it handgun specific so....
It doesn't seem that we have a comprehensive handgun site topic, at least a search didn't bring anything up.
Would be cool to get a list of favorite sights and configurations (fiber optic front blacked out rear, etc) what gun they're on and what reasoning you have for preferring what you do. If yoy run an RMR list that too
I'll start.
- M&P shield
- Overwatch Precision have blue sights (red fiber optic front, blacked out rear)
- G19
- Trijicon HD night sights

I'm really liking the front tritium dot, rear black on the wife's Dan Wesson.

I like the Trijicon HD with the big orange front and subdued rear. Pic on my Glock 26
Also like the dot front and plain rear on my Wilson Beretta. I didn’t think I’d like that but in the future I’ll only put a night sight on the front. Really pops for me.

A friend has a steyr 9mm. In the rear it has a v notch and the front is an upside down triangle. It’s easy and fast to put it on the target. I don’t know if there are in aftermarket ones like it, though

Ameriglo with green front dot, subdued rear.
Have another set with orange front but the green seems to stand out better for me.

Re: Favorite handgun sights and configuration
For any pistol I use for target shooting, competition or just fun I prefer a fiber optic green front sight and a blacked out rear sight. Out of the thousands and thousands of rounds I have shot with many different sight configurations I find that I always end up going back to the fiber optic front sight and blacked out rear sight. The sight picture is clear and precise for my eyes and has worked better for me at matches than any night sight configuration.
For any firearm I use for any kind of defensive use I use night sights. Trijicon is my go to night sight option.

Not a fan of Siglite as I have had bad experience with 5 or 6 going DOA.
You'll find that as you get older, the glow sights are much easier to pick up and night-sights are a must if it's dark.

Re: Favorite handgun sights and configuration
I generally half a half dozen or more shooters when i go shooting, all different platforms, and different weights and sites, a few have red dots (speaking of pistols here) and the dots were a slight struggle to accommodate, but finally did, and have a few with the rather tall sites to accommodate a supressor, best for me to learn to shoot with all kinds of sites, i grew up shooting an old 1911 my gramps had during his war effort in the first one, i still have it rattles more than a diamondback, but hits poa, and with the meager sites it offers, well one had to work at making them functional
to answer question, have no favorite site of shooter, i have a love affair with all of them, be they good or bad.

Re: Favorite handgun sights and configuration
I had that styer and yup .. I thought those sight were cool as hell. I never did find an aftermarket for other guns in that configuration though.
I really like the TFO sights and like them better than their new and improved sights but .. I cant see the damn dots anymore anyway so I just aim across the tops and it doesnt matter what the sights are so now I just keep the factories. Its easier for my eyes as I get older to just line up the tops. No good at night I guess but .. I practice a lot of point shooting and if your grip is solid and you stance is practiced ... you will hit what you are pointing at even in the dark.

Blacked our rear and red fiber optic front seems to work well on my glock!
