I'm with you. The MK IV is trivial to field strip for those who didn't like the way previous models field stripped.

I've had several. Colt Woodsman, Browning Buckmark, Ruger Mark I, Ruger Mark II bull barrel but I liked my Super Single six the best. (included a 22 max cylinder as well )

Mk series Rugersare hard to beat, I still have the first pistol I ever bought and my wife and boys love to shoot them, a Ruger single six,I have two now, but they have gotten expensive. The MK series are sill affordable and are a great value. That's what I'd do.

Another vote for the Taurus tx22 shoots like a dream and lone wolf has them for 260 otd. I’m sure you can save a few bucks if you order one online but with Uncle Sam getting his cut nowadays not a big difference price wise.

I also like the SW22 Victory, Buck Mark and MK II Ruger in that order.
I have all three. Can't go wrong with any of them.

I have, and enjoy, the Ruger MKII & III, the Browning Buckmark, the S&W 2206/622/422 series, and a S&W Model 17 or 18. Any of those should serve you well (the S&W 2206 etc. are long out of production...so might not be a great choice for you).

But...I was also going to recommend the Taurus TX-22. Now, I've never shot, nor even handled one. But I've certainly seen tons of positive reviews, and vids...some even from people who say that, in general, they do NOT like Taurus products. Now, several users on here have likewise recommended the pistol, and they actually own one. At the very least, I would definitely take a look at one.

I have 3 Ruger SR 22’s (one with a threaded barrel for a suppressor) and love them. I only wish they could hold more than 10 rounds. They function awesome and do well to train new shooters on semi auto firearms without the recoil concern.

I do want to try the new Glock in 22 to see if I should switch (I’m a Glock guy) then out.

Brings me to the question: anyone have the new Glock 44? Opinions? Can you get it with a threaded barrel like the Ruger?

I've heard the threaded barrel on the G44 is a standard Euro thing but can be had for an additional $150 or so here.

Well that’s disappointing, but would probably be worth the cost for the added enjoyment. 😁
