You guys kill me. How many 2 way ranges have you been on? When you go a mission what you carry and how much can hinder you. If you are shooting and have to change out mags a lot that's a problem. ALL OF YOU ON HERE train for gun range bad guys. 1 paper silhouette and 50 rounds for the day and your done. Not in my average day. Even on the streets where you might have to use what you know you think bad guys run in singles. They come in 2's ,3's and maybe more. All I hear about is range shooting. No defensive shoot at all. You guys crack me up. Shoot, move and communicate. That's what should be present in all of you with military back grounds.
And know we know you're a troll account for the ass clown in chief.
Delta6. Another loser. I had a friend, hes dead but when he was alive he would always tell me when he was taking a delta6. You wouldn't have known him, would you?

My problem is the size and geometry of my hand. What happens is that around once every 3 or 4 magazines, I pull the trigger and it doesn't go off as the grip safety's not depressed far enough.
I figured it was just my lousy grip, but found out later that I'm not alone in this, even among accomplished shooters.
Case in point, Logan Clark, President of Clark Custom guns, national champion shooter and holder of a couple world records and, incidentally, lives close to his Uncle, Jerry Miculek.
He did an episode on Shootout Lane a few months back and stated that he had the same problem as me and since he competed with 1911s, he had to find a solution. What he said was that he welded an extension around 3/8" longer to the grip safety and thus eliminated the problem.
I don't have any trouble like that with my 1911's.
My first post here, guys..
Been member of Arizona Shooting on old platform for many years under different username.
It seems some degradation in quality of discussion in this thread.
Military serviceman, high ranking operatives is not argument to prove not to be an idiot - I have seen many. Let's not be a keyboard commandos and respect each other at least formally.
The 1911 is my favorite platform.. for daily carry - I have/had a quiet of few.
Never had reliability problem.
I like how it shoots and how it feels.
The only drawback is not easy to suppress.
For application (above) I have a few Glocks - they serve it's purpose well.
GOD bless Mr. Browning and his many inventions, this platform being one of my favs, and well the go fast 30 cal, 50 cals, well shiat, how about we just say all the ones he designed and built. Damm aint America great with great inventors

There is something about the venerable 1911. I have literally owned over 120 of them over the past two decades. I learned to shoot on .45 caliber semiautos. Smith 645 (wonderful gun), SIG P220, and several 1911s. While the 220 is my spirit animal, I carry a 1911 more often. It talks to me. I shoot them well, they carry well, and they are iconic.
I have owned, sold, traded approximately 60 different handguns in my 65 years on this earth and I bought a Colt Defender (second one I have owned) several months ago. I took it to the indoor range here in Prescott to function fire it. The feeling of that wonderful 1911 trigger immediately came back to me and I had a great time with the gun. No misfires or malfunctions whatsoever. I'm carrying it daily IWB with no issues. When I took it apart and cleaned it, I fortunately remembered to avoid the "idiot scratch" when re- inserting the slide stop lever!
