Best Mid-Range 2011/1911 with high capacity

I am curious to know what some of your favorite mid-range 1911/2011 high capacity guns are. I'm thinking mostly self-defense and not necessarily as an EDC, though looking for the long-term. I am thinking somewhere (new cost) in the $900 - $2500) range (and you can modify any part of this question if you think my question could better be answered by doing so).

What say you?

I had a former IPSC Caspian .38super that I thoroughly enjoyed. It fit better than either the Para-Ord or other hi-cap 1911 frames. I desperately wanted to convert it to 10mm, but Caspian never bothered to make mags for that caliber,...the bastards.
