Age, wisdom, decades of practice and millions of rounds of ammo. God given talent may be a part of it too.

Jerry is awesome. His wife and daughter are better shooters than the whole country save probably a few dozen folks depending on the discipline involved.

He is reedonkulus.
Start with the innate talent, and then the jillions of rounds of practice.
If I practiced as much as he did, and matched him round for round, I would still never be a tenth as good as him.
He was born with it, and then added the dedication.

PS: Leatham, same thing. When he was a beginner, with no training and little practice, he still was amazing. A natural.

I met Bob Munden at the S.H.O.T. show a few years back, just before he passed away. He and his wife were very nice.

Got to see Jerry and his wife and daughter Lena at a shoot at Rio Salado a few years back also.

It's funny, I see him shoot and in my mind, I guess I made him a big guy.

Turns out he's short, maybe 5' 7" or so and so is his wife and daughter.

With so many things that weigh into separating great from greater in the higher stages of athletics I would think being compact would be a benefit for this type of activity. All of his movements are a couple few inches shorter than say a guy who is 6'. I always found it interesting what makes the difference in elite athletes.

Still .. how much do you have to practice to do a reload like that . Shoot I dont even think I saw him move!!

I can envision a terrible 90's action movie where he squares off against 20 street thugs and they laugh at him and call him an old man with an old man gun .. and are promptly dispatched before they can flash a gold tooth.

Love Bob Mundon. Any man who rocks a quad rig is alright. He Taught me how to bump fire 1911s, oh on video I mean. You should have seen the range nazis at Ben avery the day I ripped thru a 30 round mag from a double stack 1911. They thought I was unloading a full auto 1911 and were shitting kittens as they ran down the line.

I even got a few in the target too.

Those guys are all amazing.
It must be nice to get free ammo , free guns , free gunsmithing and also be paid to do it.

I learned how to do that accidentally on a Star M30 with a fantastic SA trigger. Kind of fun, but a waste of ammo for sure.

always wanted to shoot like this, but never had the desire to spend the time, the money to make it happen, amazing talent some can garner with the desire to do so, always enjoyed seeing jerry and bob shoot, saw them in several exhibitions, amazing for sure, i just found i had other things to take the time it would take for me to even get remotely near their pedestal.
sure is fun to watch

Ya with a 1911 that's more of an area denial or volume of fire technique.

Isn't it amazing that you never hear of anyone calling personalities in the pro gun arena assholes? Meanwhile it seems the majority of TV, movie, media type personalities are pretty much all assholes...

In groups where you have to be genuine to get started and interact with people being an arshole is a career killer.

One thing I noticed at any of the shooting events I've observed is the collaboration good will amongst competitors. They all help each other do better and I've heard of, never seen, guys loaning expensive stuff to noobs just so they can shoot for the first time. It's been awhile but I'm sure it's the same.

The only animosity is twords stage designers, and then only in jest.
