I rescued this Colt 1911 owned by my wife's great uncle from a garage in Albuquerque where it had been stored since he passed. I remember him telling me he bought it after WW-II and the serial number supports a date of 1947. As far as I know it is completely original and I'm sure it only had the one owner - who scratched his initials 'CJF' on the inside of the grip. The surface has some minor pitting, probably from the storage conditions. Otherwise, only the effects of loving use.
I've put a couple boxes of rounds through it and it shoots sweet. The heft seems to absorb the recoil. That said, I don't really have a use for it so I'm looking for a good home for this proud piece of history. Any thoughts?

I'd love to buy it. I'm sure others would able pay more than what I can pay. Though if I were you. I'd keep it and pass it to the next generation. Exactly what I do if I have yours.

Unfortunately, I have no other shooters in my next generation. It comes with 2 original Colt clips and a vintage dual-clip carrier (also circa late 1940's). I would love to get $1,000 for it, but would probably settle for $900.
