Semi-auto 22LR pistol

#1

Post by XJThrottle »

I'm in the market for a Semi-auto 22LR pistol. Something that will accept a silencer, and isn't terribly expensive. Less than $400 preferred. I like the Ruger 22/45, but it's 10rd mag is kinda lame.

Whatcha' got?

Funny, I found a brick of 22 ammo about 2 weeks ago and can’t remember buying it, but now thinking hey, looks like I need a 22!

Don't ya love when that happens?
I was just in my office and about tripped over a box of 30rd PMAGs for my AK. Hmmm, when did I get those? LOL

I just picked up a 22/45 pawn shop steal with plans of putting the Pac-Lite 4.5" or 6" upper on it. Haven't decided which one yet, but what Muzrap has is pretty much what I'm going for.

If you are looking at 22/45 you might want to consider the MKIV version.
I have a MKIII 22/45 Lite and it is a son of a b**** to break down, they supposedly fixed that nonsense with the MKIV.
A stock gun will require a bunch of mods to make it a good gun.

This is what I added to mine,
Volquartsen Accurizing Kit
Tandem Kross - Firing pin, Eagle's talon extractor
Kanewolf slingshot kit
A bolt racker of some sort is helpful if you want to shoot a lot. I used this one
I also added a Burris FF 3 to mine

It is night and day different from stock with the mods done.

Second the MKIV recommendation. I bought one a few months ago. The price was a bit above the OP's number, but they should be available now at close to his limit.

I have a SR22 with threaded barrel and a form 1 suppressor I made. Flawless operation with subsonic 22 ammo. I paid under 300 for it.

As far as a higher capacity, you aren't going to find many pistols that hold more than 10 rounds. I had a S&W M&P22 a while back, and I think it held 12 rounds. Not sure why someone hasn't made a higher capacity pistol....something that holds 20 or so rounds...I'm sure something is out there, but I'm surprised its not from Ruger or one of the other big names.

Tandemkross has a +1 base plate for 22/45 Mk. III mags. That's what I use. I don't know if they have anything for a Mk. IV.

Oh, +1....hooray. I'm talking about 30 rounds or more, like a Kel-Tec PMR but in 22lr.
