Which Muzzle Break for an 11.5 inch AR Pistol?

I'm working on an AR pistol that is piston driven with an 11.5 inch barrel.

I'm researching muzzle breaks to reduce felt recoil and allow for quicker follow up shots. I don't want anything that has holes facing down as it will kick up dirt in the prone position.

There are so many out there (more than I imagined). I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money but I don't want junk either.

If you guys have suggestions let me know please.

Here are few that I was looking into.

1. Sons Of Liberty Gun Works NOX Two Chamber Brake 9 Hole Neutral Version https://ar15discounts.com/products/sons ... unts+Email)

2. Fortis Manufacturing 2.23/5.56 RED Muzzle Brake MOD 2 https://ar15discounts.com/products/fort ... zle-brake/

3. Strike Industries JCOMP V2 https://ar15discounts.com/products/stri ... -223-5-56/

4. VG6 GAMMA 556 - Gen 1 (I've read the Gen 2's are not as good) https://ar15discounts.com/products/vg6-gamma-556/

Here are some articles that I found as well.

Flaming Pig

Then just hold tight to reduce muzzle rise.

Spot on, muzzel blast is the #1 item I felt was really needed. I shoot my shorty alot and especially for those near me the pig works great. I have KAK's on my other short AR's.

I shoot a lot of short barreled single shot guns in rifle cartridges. 444 Marlin, 243 Win, 30-30AI, 6.5 Tcu,
270 win., 6 PPC. Plus many rifles in various calibers.
I have found that the plain vanilla brake with 3 large side vents and only top vents in the center of the top with no bottom vents works well and minimizes the recoil and muzzle blast. The vents can be slightly faced rearward to the shooter but too far and it is very uncomfortable. I also found that the exit hole can be larger than most people would think and still work well. It actually reduces some of the blast.
I have made several but now just buy them off the big websites for low cost. I install them and chuck the barrel in the lathe and make sure the exit hole is in alignment to the bore.
A good example is the Holland brake.
I just looked at Holland's site online and saw a picture of a friend I met in Wyoming and hunted with. Will have to give him a call.

He is the guy behind the gun.

Huge fan and lover of the bravo comp 1.5. It's on a 14.5 ar but I wouldn't hesitate to use on a shorter ar.

Put a Vortex on it and get more you behind the gun. No flash to screw with your vision and your neighbors will still talk to you.

Is a suppressor an option, cause I’ve found that to be the best route

The Flaming Pig looks a lot like the KAK but costs a lot more. Is there really a major difference? I have a KAK on an AR-9 and I do like it.

Good point! I usually go out alone but I do have a PWS that has the PWS muzzle break and it's LOUD!

I've thought about it, but I probably won't get one. Still have to wear ear protection so it just does not seem as fun as something quiet like a .22 or 9mm.

Looks like a KAK flash can. Is it any better?

Noveske flaming pig is made out of steel, and it aids in cycling with shorter barrels due to providing a little bit of back pressure when firing.
