Also why would you give the barrels away? Don't they only work on this specific model?

Well, he said the barrels went to various family members, so sounds like dad (grand dad) helped out the members as/when they got the itch. If he was happy with the 4'' base unit, the other barrels may have seemed like surplus to him.

From what I have seen in the past, Dan Wessons in good shape tend to bring as much as a similar S&W. So I'd say this one should sell for about $600-$700.
