Some 500 Magnum 700 grain loads and a 9mm

Received a box of Underwood 700 grain loads for my new S&W 500. I thought the picture made a pretty funny comparison to my EDC loads I use.

How about a pic of one of those in the cylinder? How close do they get to sticking out the front?

I haven't put them in yet but from what I've seen the are right up to the cylinder opening pretty much no room for anything and they even mention that you may want to shoot them individually to prevent any recoil from causing them to move outward and prevent operation.

I will take some shots in a few and post them.

700 grains? Good thing for somebody else to shoot. I'll watch.

I have a mould so I can make those bullets. It also has a hollow point pin that goes down more that halfway into the bullet. looks like you are looking down a sewer pipe because you don't see the bottom of the hollow point cavity.

In the pic below you can see the bullet loaded next to the regular 700 gr. bullet

It sucks getting old. The young me loved the idea of something like a 700gr wad cutter out of a .500 SW. The old cranky me says... well... maybe one round... so I can say that I did... but it'll be someone else's gun because I have no desire to hurt the way I'll hurt after shooting something like that. Heck - the 45-70 lever gun is getting replaced with an 8.6BLK AR10... I can throw 350 grain copper solids at 1050 FPS and it feels like shooting a 5.56 AR-15 with a bunch of weight attached... :-)
