How long is that handgun?

I was talking to a guy that insisted AR15 pistols had to have a barrel under 16" and be less than 26" long. I looked online and many articles said the same thing.

So I did a little research and came up with this:

IC 35-47-1-6
"Handgun"
Sec. 6. "Handgun" means any firearm:
(1) designed or adapted so as to be aimed and fired from one (1) hand, regardless of barrel length; or
(2) any firearm with:
(A) a barrel less than sixteen (16) inches in length; or (emphasis added)
(B) an overall length of less than twenty-six (26) inches.
As added by P.L.311-1983, SEC.32

So reading the actual law it says "or", so I'm getting this, if you have an AR pistol with say a 14.5" barrel and it's over 26" you're good to go. Or if you had a revolver with an 18" barrel and less than 26" you"re also good.

Am I missing something or are all the articles wrong?

"Those are the 88 magnums shoot clear through a school house" long ago movie Johnny Dangerously quote.

Mostly because we don't really GAF about something like that. It's never been a concern, nor will ever be.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

If you care.. as it stands today, simple explanation, a pistol is any firearm that is designed to be fired using one hand with no butt stock and has a rifled barrel.

As of August 22, 2022, you'll probably need an attorney to tell you if it is or isn't a pistol.

The BAT folks have added almost 600 personnel since Brandon took office and they probably were not hired to help with the registry.

Thanks for the 1 intelligent answer delta6. I actually know what a pistol is, but I figured it would take us to 8/22, and maybe a discussion on all the bs info out there as evidenced by the 'and/or' I pointed out in the original post
but ........
