That remaing pink really shows a lot of a white color I wonder if this was even a steel gun, and not some 315$ pink ladys gun to meet a price point. Think it was a Charter Arms aluminium frame, guess it was to much psi after second look.

Yes, those are alloy frames. Apparently you can anodize in most any color.

If this happened at the Scottsdale Gun Club, I was informed today by one of their instructors that the lady told them they had old hand loads.

IMHO - 99% probability of the cause being a double charge in a hand load. If it had not blown out the cylinder but had just ruptured the barrel / ripped the barrel off the front of the frame - then I could see a squib being the cause - but I can't see anything rupturing the cylinder other than WAAAAYYYYYYY too much pressure...

OK - I guess it's possible that the gun became self aware, figured out that it had been powder coated pink, and decided to kill itself out of embarrassment.

I'm going with the last paragraph.

Gonna toss out one other thought.
The cyl. latch looks to be still in the forward position like it was not completely in battery.
Charter Arms are kind of susceptible to cranes twisting if the gun gets cowboyed. The cyl. pin will over travel and not go in the hole to push the latch back. That leaves the cyl. slightly twisted and the bullet aiming at the part of the frame and forcing cone that is missing.
Note the latch in the foward position, crane and the front of the cyl. pin not fully seated.
Or,,,,,, It just hated being pink.
