FNS has a huge problem with firing when out of battery

#1

Post by Miker12 »

The Arizona Department of Public Safety created a safety bulletin video last year to alert troopers of a flaw in their service pistols that could cause them to fire unexpectedly or not fire at all.

Maybe old news to most of you but really interesting and should be watched for.

The video isn't firing out of battery, it's firing when they simulate a drop using the hammer. Spooky stuff.

Had a casual acquaintance who kept a loaded old Colt DA revolver in the top of his closet. It fell one day and hit a vertical file cabinet or something like that in the closed and discharged, killing him. You don't need to have a gun like that around.

Now wait a minute.
I thought there was no such thing as an accidental discharge.
I thought there was only negligent disharges and your finger had to be on the trigger.

Mechanical failure discharge,... aka, faulty design failure.

I guess they'll have to just start carrying with empty cambers, like some Israeli units did.

This issue only occurs on firearms made prior to Feb 2017. See FN’s service bulletin.

Old news, the 509 series is awesome, got a tactical a few moths ago, it's a Cadillac, took a while to get used to the new sig, now I love them, the modularity really grows on you

Thats my Gf's carry.

Tried to get her to trade and no dice. lol.

Took a minute adjusting to the sight over bore but then realized that, it's so you can set a red dot sight on it. Has a lot of cool features for sure.
