Just got a little teaser from Midsouth Shooting Supply on, Hornady’s new AR 15 cartridge. It has the wheels in my head turning once again $$$

Jesus, another round for the platform? All of these rounds make my head spin. What's the advantage for this one and what new stuff would I need to buy to make it work?

Another in a series of cartridges that have sparked my interest only to be hidden in the recesses of my brain and soon forgotten

I already have too many calibers to reload, its just one more that will not add anything special to my collection.

I would like to know what it mimics, also. Just curious.

It's a 6 Grendel (basically). 6 Grendel was a wildcat and not SAAMI. Grendel has had long issue with licensing and other people just made their own to avoid licensing. It's a very, very good long range cartridge for the small frame AR platform. The have been a few very similar cartridges (6 Grendel / 243LBC / 6 Fatrat / 6mmAR). Difference is this in SAAMI and will have factory ammo.

Watch the Hornady video, they talk about what cartridges it was patterned off of. 6.5 Grendal was the primary one.
