Discuss rifles, carbines, and other long-arms here (AR-15's, AK's, etc...)

Just to be a contrarian, 7.62x39 suppressed.

Otherwise I've had fun with a friend's 300 blk.

My thoughts are, the 6.8 caliber will do distant shooting better, and short distances just as good. I didn't like my 300BLK past 100 yds, so I dedicated it to less than 100yds, with a reduced velocity/powder charge.

As I stated, I think the 6.8 will do both types of shooting, BUT, with more recoil and noise/concussion in close quarters.

From the tests I have run with 225 grain 300BLK loads, at 30yds and less, at 1400 FPS,... as a PDW,... I found its, recoil, noise, and penetration, fit my needs perfectly!!!

Your results may differ.

I haven't looked at 6.8 so I cant say but I can't find 300blk ammo online anywhere in these times.

But also I prefer the 300blk for it's suppressor use.

My personal opinion, but 6.8 makes no sense when 6.5 Grendel is available.

I like the versatility of the 300 BLK. I’ve loaded rounds with 110gr up to 208gr subs. Even unsurpressed the 208gr rounds are very quiet

6.5 Grendel is usually easier to find as well isn't it?

300 BLK for pistol builds and suppression. A lot of fun in a small package. I don't have anything in 6.8 but I love my 6.5 Grendel with a 20" barrel.

Getsum and I bought some Barnaul 6.5 Grendel a few months ago at a very reasonable price, and it shoots great. It's great for practice. There are lots of 6.5 projos available now as well for reloading, although I have started doing that for it yet. There is also some decent looking factory hunting ammo also. Having said great stuff about the Grendel, I still won't replace my 5.56 guns with it.

I have nothing bad to say about Privi myself.

I have a .300 SBR, and also one in full size, my only hangup with them is the price of ammo!

They are NOT a plinking round...

I hear ya, Cool Arrow,... I only load 300BLK for moderate velocity with Hornady 225grn HP's, but even they are over 30 cents each!

For desert plinking, target, load development,... I cast 200 grn lead from a LEE mold that has a profile I felt would not give me cycling problems. But, reasonably priced, clean, pure lead and linotype isn't cheap anymore, either!
