6.8 or 300 BLK? Which one
If you have both and are thinking of dumping one which it? Obviously the 300 has more parts commonality but the 6.8 packs a bigger punch. 300 is the darling the 6.8 redheaded stepchild. 300 better subsonic i'm guessing in SBR but 6.8 packs more punch in SBRs but maybe not subsonic. 6.8 better in longer barrels too and probably more versatile all around.
Or just stick with 556 and 7.62.......
Or better yet keep them all......
Thoughts?

I'm not sure why I'd want the blackout. Unless suppressed at close range. It looses it's appeal quick. The 6.8 is pretty neat overall, but my 6.5 Grendel is an awesome rifle, not the end all be all, but I plan to hunt with it as much as possible. I'll never ditch my 5.56 rifles, why would I? Just too common and well thought out. Keep them all? It's your constitutional right to be awesome, so why not?

The thing about these are they both fit into a standard M-16 sized receiver and action. Grendel a whole different deal on a 308 action. I am basically talking about in a SBR/carbine situation in a standard M-16 sized action. 6.5 great round for sure but a different animal

Grendel fits the AR15 platform, not the 308/AR10. It's an excellent cartridge, you should take a look. The bolt face is a little slimmer than the 5.56, which makes me wonder about it as a battle rifle option, but as a hunter, no problem. Just my imagination in any case maybe.

OK I misread and thought creedmore. Yes that's a decent round and probably OK for most purposes. Similar to 6.8 and can shoot pointier bullets. But that's why I have 308 BR's

I shoot both, they are both fun in their separate ways. 6.8 is an awesome round but it can get expensive to just be plinking. 300blk seems to have come down a lot in price and it is an absolute blast to shoot subsonic, it is more quiet than my 9mm subs. Like for reals movie quiet.

Keep them all. Are you hurting for money? If not keep them

Just wondering the overlap and if necessary to simplify my life. But there really isn't any overlap except as a great sbr rounds, 6.8 not subsonic though. But you can hunt with it

I went with 6.8.
But if I had suppressors, then the 300 would be worth a look.

I rather echo the post about the 6.5 Grendel. I think it's a great round for an AR

Going subsonic with a heavy bullet is the niche of the 300 BLK for sure quote=DrEarlCordova post_id=41041 time=1585622189 user_id=71]
I went with 6.8.
