weapon lights for AR 15

Need some suggestions for decent light for my rifle. Trying to stay in the $100-150 price range but I have no experience with quality lights. Any help would be great.

What is it going on? Sbr or rifle length? Are you going to be putting it on a railed forend? What type of activation method do you want? Tape switch or tailcap?
As to brand Surefire is top notch.

Thanks for the reply's, it's going on a 16" carbine with a Magpul MOE fore end. Planning on a button type tail switch since I do not want a cord type switch.

I would look at a surefire mini scout or x200. Plenty can be found online in your price range. The mini scout has the push button on the x200 has a rocker switch. Both are rock solid IMHO

Looks like a decent light but it is not a dedicated weapon light. WLs have shock insulated heads and internals. You will also need a mount for this as it will not come with one. Depending on the size of the light this can be done with an old scope ring and piece of scope rail. It is not an ideal solution but it does work (at least until it doesn’t). Back in the early 2000’s we were rigging up surefire G2 incandescent lights this way (thought we were high speed operators) and while it did work the bulb would eventually get jacked from the recoil. This might not be an issue here as it is led but imho not worth the risk. I am also not a huge fan of the multifunction tail caps. I dislike having to cycle through setting to get the one I want.

I like the USB charging, especially considering all of the vehicle adapters, power stations etc. available for cell phone charging. I wish they had a standard port on the light side but I do prefer that they keep it water and dust proof by using magnetic contact.

Streamlight isn't bad for the money. I've used pretty much all their stuff for pistols and rifles. Rail mounted with some type of insert for a tape switch is the best in my opinion, as it allows for a lot of versatility hand/light positioning and such.

Surefire, Arisaka, and Modlight are all killer options but cost a bit more, though you get what you pay for. I use a Surefire 300C on an Arisaka mount on my 11.5 and it is absolute perfection for me.

I've used Inforce and wasn't a fan. Also OLight products, which belong in the trash in my opinion.

Just be careful buying expensive brand names on Amazon. The place is loaded with counterfeits and fakes. If the price seems too low it probably is because it's a counterfeit.

I have 2 of these from Primary Arms. Thus far they have been excellent lights. They are very well constructed, extremely bright, and can be shortened or lengthened by adding or removing the extra battery section. The added battery doesn't increase the lumens, just the run time.
