Picked up this SR25 sniper package. This rifle served in Afghanistan and was sent back to Knight for overhaul when sniper was offered to buy it declined the purchase.

Nice score especially with the history behind it

I think I know about how much you paid. That was NOT cheap.

You're right it was not cheap but I've been looking for one for a long time.

I saw a couple of those on Sturm for over $25k. Nice score.

“Lord I’ve seen what you’ve done for others…”
Seriously that is awesome and has others said a piece of history. I wonder if future generations will look at these the way many of us look at clean M-1s and ask ourselves “man I wish I would have picked one up when they were X dollars”

Very cool. I'd be interesting is seeing what, besides the hand-guard, looks similar to my Armalite AR10(T). I only ask because of the shared heritage, and the fact that the picture (which I can't get to open to a larger size) appears to show a handgrip that looks very similar.
Before folks throw rocks at me... no - I'm not saying that it's "just any old AR10"... it looks to be a very cool piece of history... I'm just curious...

I've been working on loads using 3031 Varget and 4895. 4895 seems to shoot better 5 shot 100 yard groups. ~ 1moa. The thing that's bother some to me it has a 10X Leupold scope. My old eye's really need more magnification.

I've always had good luck with RL-15 under a 175grSMK. Very accurate & consistent. Recently been using CFE223 though since it meters better on a progressive.
I agree on magnification. 3-18x is my go-to for .308. Or more if it's a gun I don't plan to carry anywhere but from the truck to the bench.

I agree that I need a magnification in the 15to 20 range. But then the SR 25 sniper is no longer in its correct configuration if I change scopes. So I'm between a rock and a hard spot. But I will try RL 15. any recommendation on a starting load?

I went and shot groups with the 25x, POA was .25" dot, things were as they should be. Finished up, felt great. Next rifle was maxed at 16x, I could see the 1" targets but the .25" were essentially gone.
The struggle is real. Id toss the 25x on it and see how well it shoots....but id prob put the 10x back on before leaving the range.
Im curious how it holds up to the AW in the accuracy department.

My M118LR clone load was 42.5gr RL-15 under 175gr SMK. I'd start lower though.
"scope correctness", I guess it depends on what your goal is for the rifle. If you're a cloner & want to keep & experience it in a specific configuration (just like if you built a clone of an older rifle with iron sights), then keep the 10x & see how far you can effectively use it. If you're wanting a precision shooter, then go for bigger glass and keep the 10x in case you sell it to a cloner in the future. There's no wrong answer, IMO.
