Remington's new 700 Alpha 1

I guess the term "new" is relative as the Model 700 has been around a while, but supposedly there are some new features on this one:

Its got some nice features, such as the tool-less firing pin break down, the changeable bolt handle and the Timney trigger. Those are some things that I always thought of as short comings when I switched over to Remington M700's many years back when I was into precision rifles.

Of course, if you have several M700's you'll acquire the bolt tools and modify or replace the triggers and bolt handles. However, I always felt I should have switched to Savage rifles instead. At the time, however, Remington had the most aftermarket support and it was long before Remington went downhill.
The jury is still out on the "new" Remington.

Please, please, please do a review thread on it... I've been eyeballing a B-14 HMR in .300WM. I haven't been able to convince myself to buy one - but my resistance is failing.

I will, but between the holidays, a newborn and a few other projects it might be awhile.

At first blush just playing with it though, it feels really nice and appears very well made.

Just gotta see how it shoots. I got mine in 6.5cm. Wanted 6cm, but they don't make it in that yet.

Notice the Barrel Material? "Cerakote Fluted" Why no actual barrel info? Does this mean they are using less that ideal barrels? Strange.

I'm definitely a fan of the Model 700, and the new upgrades they made have me seriously considering adding one to my collection. Have you had a chance to check it out yet? I heard that the new trigger system is a huge improvement over the previous models. If you're in the market for a new rifle, I'd definitely recommend taking a look at this one. And if you're looking for some sweet gear to go along with it, be sure to check out https://walkeroutdoors.net/. They always have a great selection of top-notch hunting gear at unbeatable prices.
No thanks, Robot.
