If you could only have one rifle, and one cartridge for AZ hunting, what would it be?

Discuss rifles, carbines, and other long-arms here (AR-15's, AK's, etc...)

Like the title question asks: what cartridge and what rifle would you pick for a do all hunting rifle in AZ? From southern coues deer to mule deer to elk to prong horn.

I'm not a great hunter or anything, but I have brought home an elk and a couple deer in my life. I'd grab something like a Bergara B14 in 6.5 Creedmoor. 308 would be second choice.

300 Winchester Magnum. If you need the range AND the knockdown power you have it. I use a worked over Winchester Model 70 for delivery.

For the past 15 +/- years it's been a Browning X-bolt in 308. 168-gr bullets in the >2,600-fps muzzle velocity range will do it all in AZ.

There are a lot of great calibers out there for hunting, but if you're looking to get only one hunting rifle (boring), I would go with 308 just because of ammo availability. You can almost always find it on the shelf when everything else is cleared out.

I don't know what that means. You'd have one of every caliber?
