I do believe I will order a few Extar guns. Think they are the same guys that started Plum Crazy.StarQuester wrote: ↑June 2nd, 2018, 12:03 am Here my thought process regarding PCC’s.
1: EXTAR, AZ company out of Lake Havasu.
https://extarusa.com/ep9.htm
EP9, $420-ish, polymer AR pattern(4lbs), Glock mag with LRBHO. Comes with pistol brace.
EP10 and EP45 models due out later this year, slightly heavier(.50-1.0lb) and more expensive($50-100 more). Both have NP3 plated bolt and chamber, otherwise identical to EP9.
2: STRIBOG, Slovak company(same as Grand Power pistols)
https://grandpower.eu/produkt/stribog-sp9-a1/?lang=en
SP9-A1, looks similar to B&T APC9. Key-mod or M-LOK, full Ambi controls with ability to swap charging handle side to side. Metal BUIS integrated into top rail. Cheap $20 mags/retrofit UZI mags possible. MSRP of $800, street price being around $700. AR pattern trigger, unsure which triggers will work though.
The SP9-A3 version is a delayed roller blowback, non-reciprocating charging handle, and if it comes in at the same price it’s a complete Scorpion EVO killer. All the features(and more) of a $1900 B&T APC9, for less than half the cost. It has yet to be imported though. Currently #1 on my buy list when it’s available.
Have also seen mention of a 9x21mm model, but unsure of any real details.

I’m thinking about one of these Glock lowers next. It’s also a local company.

Looked into Extar and they are not a AR pattern gun meaning most AR parts will not work including buffer tubes. That would suck after registering as a SBR and now no AR stock can be used unless you make a new tube to their thread pitch and specs to put a stock on. I think this is a stupid mistake they made.

Re: Best caliber for pistol cal carbine?
Had one of those Extars come through a few weeks ago. Interesting design, but not one that I think I would purchase. The whole thing is made out of polymer except for bolt & barrel, even the fire control group and takedown pins... I don't feel too confident in a polymer hammer and trigger, and some parts just seem like they would break under heavy/harsh use.

10mm or .44 Mag would be great pistol caliber rifle cartridges.
When I was a young teenager, my uncle had a old Ruger .44 carbine he used on Alabama game. We would walk out behind his house, past his kennel of three hunting dogs, and shoot cans with it.

StarQuester, are you sure the Stribog will be roller locked? Where can I find more info on this?

The version of the Stribog being currently imported is not delayed blowback, but just a simple blowback.
GrandPower does make a delayed blowback, but it is not approved for US importation yet.
I'm trying to find one in stock with out the darn brace kit.

I like 9mm personally. My AR9 SBR is my favorite gun. I've done 45 too, that was fun. Right now I'm working on a 10mm carbine build.

Re: Best caliber for pistol cal carbine?
As another mentioned the best "caliber" would be 10mm as it gives the most increase with a longer barrel.
I currently have a HighPoint carbine in .45 and a lever action in 44Mag

Re: Best caliber for pistol cal carbine?
^ I love the Mini-Uzi and yes it is an IMI. They are heavy compared to more modern weapons platforms but so very reliable. I am so old school that I am preschool and the Uzi is just one of those guns that makes me smile.
I did throw down the big bucks for the B&T 45 as well. I love it. It is lighter than my HK SP5K 9mm. It came with a rock solid SB Tac brace which will get me by until the SBR gets sorted with the gubermint tax. The B&T eats all projectile types and weights without a hiccup. Recoil is nonexistent with the buffer setup they use. My only beef is the cost of the metal magazines at a C Note a pop but all in all it is just what I wanted in a PCC / PDW.

Re: Best caliber for pistol cal carbine?
I would suggest getting one in the same pistol caliber you most often carry as a sidearm and if possible one that will use the same magazines. There are probably lots of options - i haven't looked recently.

I am building a ar15 pistol chambered in 9x25 dillon with a 11 inch barrel. It's a gas gun not blow back.
