JUST IN CASE SOME FORGET, SINCE THEY DON'T TEACH HISTORY ANYMORE

This is the place for those men and women who have given of themselves in military service to our country. Feel free to discuss anything as it relates to prior (or current) service... and we all thank you for your service!

JUST IN CASE SOME FORGET, SINCE THEY DON'T TEACH HISTORY ANYMORE

Post by knockonit »

This is what 18 to 24 year old "boys" were
doing from 1942 to 1945. (Half of them not even old enough to vote.) No safe spaces, no hurtful unthinkable remarks that they couldn't cope with, just dying for their country so the ungrateful, uninformed snowflakes of today could act like fools decades later.
This 2 minute video is pretty moving. Worth your while. "What actually made this country great is ordinary people like this doing extraordinary things."

"the war to end all wars"

I can't imagine how it was back then, the mood, the patriotism...

we have fallen so far off the tracks since then.

I have seen that before.
It is very humbling.

This is true.
The military personnel of today are just as patriotic and brave as the ones from the past.

18-24 yr olds today? Netflix and chill, play GTA, smoke a bowl, call AAA for help with a flat tire, don't know which end of a screwdriver to use...would manage to F up a one-man parade.

Pathetic.

Very true, I feel grateful to grow up before that age group And have parents that taught me how to be a god damn man. Life is hard, nothing is handed to you, work hard for what you want in life and don’t ask for handouts like a damn south phx tweaker.

And to think I’m probably a bad parent for instilling those same values in my kids that I was raised on....

Not to take a damn thing away from EVERY veteran who served our country since its inception but the military is still full of good people, patriots and fighters that through periods of combat or peace had to do crappy things under crappy conditions and like me, one of my girls and probably a bunch on this board ... they volunteered to do it.

I think sometimes ... the media just likes to show us the losers, fugin halfwits and transgendered and I am not sure why. I will continue to believe they are the tiny minority and America is still making good Americans.

Both the girls who came through the school of Boriqua will outwork most 2 people without breathing heavy.

The hippies of the 60's took over government and they seem to enjoy thumbing their nose at the rest of America as they attempt to destroy it. Wont happen.

My grandfather was 26 with three kids when drafted in 1943 age and family meant nothing then, people reported and did what they were told. Arrived in Europe in September of 1944 and did not arrive back in the states until 9/47

God, Family, Country actually was the way of life, the mindset, the ideal, and worth defending with all you had.

My father and 6 uncles served in WWII.
Prior to the war, they were all in the C.C.C.[Civilian Conservation Corp].
They were scattered all over the world in WW11 and all over the country during the depression.
Most of their paycheck went home to Mom and Dad.
