I have been going to the Tucson VA since 1984 and have had nothing but positive experiences with them.

It seems the main hospital and the satellite ones here in Phx area have moved it up a notch in the last year or so.

Had a few surgeries back in Dec 2017- Jan 2018. Was at Hayden for 3 weeks. Was there for both Christmas and New Years so staff was minimal due to holiday weekends. Not being able to walk the time there did drag. Only real issues were the eggs were crap every morning(probably powdered) and the AC was on all night and the paper thin blankets didn't help much.

Yeah... they say the temperature is kept down to prevent germs. Your in a shirt type thing with your ass hanging out and it is hard to keep warm. It was the same 2 weeks ago. Also the same at Bal Bao Naval in 68, 1st Med outside of Danang in 69 and Des Moines in 71 (USMC). So that has not improved or changed. Of course most all hospitals are that way.

Flagstaff clinic has been good.I get referred to Triwest for stuff they can't do. They also are very good. They have set up my preferred doctor in summit ortho for my hand problems and any follow ups to fix it.

Phoenix VA still sucks. Well at least the prosthetic dept does. I have to go through them for my nebulizer filters. Called for a week solid and not one single person picks up.

PCP recommended a colonoscopy as I hit 50, scheduled it, followed the directions, had it done and it went very well.

Only complaint is no call back with the results, but no news is good news, I guess.

Been with the Tucson VA for about 5 years now, had 3 PCP's but service has been very good IMHO

Usually go to the Gilbert clinic, or the phx hospital if it is something major. Was scheduled to go in for a second shoulder surgery last week, but on the 4th I went in for pre surgery meeting, and they asked how I felt about stem cells. Basically, agreed to try it, and went and got an injection in my shoulder last week. Too short of a time to tell if it will help, but am optimistic.

Overall, in the past 3 years, my VA care has improved.

So I had to go to my VA appointment this morning. At this appointment I was ask.if I had any guns and how many. I said nope don't have any ,don't believe in them. Be careful when they ask you about things like that. Just tell them with a smile what I told them. That way they just move on. If you get mad about it you are all ready giving them info.
