One of my good high school buddies died in the Marana crash in 2000 that took the lives of 19 Marines.

And the incoming new Marine One carrying the President is supposed to be an Osprey.

Yeah, the SpecOps community has been forced to use them as well. None of the aircrews like flying them.

Thankfully, it doesn't appear to be the case....
Sikorsky VH-92 Patriot
The Sikorsky/Lockheed Martin VH-92 Patriot is an American helicopter under development to replace the United States Marine Corps' Marine One U.S. presidential transport fleet. It is a militarized variant of the Sikorsky S-92
A U.S. military Osprey aircraft with eight personnel aboard crashed into the sea near Japan’s Yakushima Island on Wednesday morning. It is the latest in a string of accidents involving the tilt-rotor transport.
The BBC reports local fishermen found one unconscious person. The coastguard later confirmed their death. The cause of the crash is unknown.
The coastguard said it has mobilised patrol ships and aircraft around the island which lies south of Japan’s southernmost main island of Kyushu.
Japanese broadcaster NHK said the tilt rotor CV-22 Osprey transport was trying to land at Yakushima Airport. The plane’s left engine was on fire, it added.
The aircraft was thought to be heading from Iwakuni base in the Yamaguchi region to Kadena base in Okinawa before diverting.
The Osprey, developed by Bell Helicopters and Boeing, can serve as a helicopter and a turboprop aircraft and has been involved in a series of mishaps since being introduced.
In August, another Osprey crashed in northern Australia during a military exercise for locally based troops, killing three U.S. marines among the 23 on board, as Breitbart News reported.
AFP details a string of other deadly crashes preceded that accident.
Four U.S. Marines were killed in Norway last year when their MV-22B Osprey aircraft went down during NATO training exercises.
Three Marines were killed in 2017 when an Osprey crashed after clipping the back of a transport ship while trying to land at sea off Australia’s north coast.
In 2016, an MV-22 Osprey crash-landed off Okinawa, prompting the U.S. Marines to temporarily ground the aircraft in Japan after the accident sparked anger among locals.
And 19 Marines died in 2000 when their Osprey crashed during drills in Arizona.

If a particular model of civilian passenger craft went down as often as these turds....
The NTSB and FAA would have them GROUNDED.

I recall those Warthog Tank Killer A10 (close air support) crashed way more than acceptable they did not transport troops. Eventually they learned it blew up lots of enemies.

Racewin, your humility is appreciated.
However, I am guessing that vet-status was not..is not..a requirement here.
Rather, it's the understanding that the sub-forum is for discussion of topics related to the community.
If you have a positive contribution, have at it.

I recall having watched that YouTuber before. He was a RIO in Tomcats, IIRC. Very credible gent. While he didn't outright pan the machine, he sure brought up enough real-world 'stuff' that only serves to bolster my heebie-jeebies.

Osprey's arent crashing at any higher rate than anything else we have had. The blackhawk had a way higher crash rate until the model upgrades really started hitting the flightlines. Its always been this way, the defense contractors testing s*** out with our bodies and our buddies, kinda like SIG does with customers.

Congress launches probe into Osprey aircraft program following series of fatal crashes
A congressional oversight committee has launched an investigation into the U.S. military’s Osprey aircraft program following a deadly crash in Japan last month which killed eight Air Force special operations service members.
The tilt-rotor plane – which can fly like a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft -- has been besieged by problems over its 30-year history with more than 50 U.S. service members dying in crashes involving the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey. Twenty of those died in four separate crashes over the last 20 months.
