WILL POACHING INCREASE

This is the place to talk about general outdoor activities like fishing, off-roading, hiking, camping, hunting, mountain climbing, etc...

WILL POACHING INCREASE

#1

Post by knockonit »

I suspect we will have a up tick in poaching, especially if this "supposed meat shortage" evolves into another fear issue. already some states have seen a increase in purchase of lic. and one has to assume there are those that will believe it is their right to take game whether in or on state, fed or private land.
be interesting to see how big an up tick it will be, Arizona does have a poaching issues in several areas of state. wonder if thats gonna jump

thoughts anyone

forgot to mention, have heard that the fishing limits have been pushed at most of the big lakes, since they are getting hammered, and packed, same with mountain lakes, suspect the stocks will be hammered.
happy days are here again

I'd imagine it would only be those that are on the fence, morally, already.

To do it in the heat of summer here, you'd have to be prepared. Take it at night, have it processed, and carcass disposed of before dawn. Anyone with a refrigeration space large enough to house an undressed animal doesn't have any excuse to be short on meat...in my book.

IMO,... I consider folks legally classified as "poachers", to be more properly called "survivors'.

I have known a few poacher/survivors in my time, and found NOT ONE to be a "trophy hunter"! They only kill what they eat, and, eat what they kill!

All who I met, were supplying food for their families, or, for their friends families. Of course, I am talking about back country folk that have been surviving off of Mother Nature for generations,... and probably won't be changing, anytime soon!

I stopped hunting once I could feed me and mine from what I raise! No need to be killing off what others may need for survival, imo.

I live on the edge of one of the irrigation district “farm areas” in Phoenix. They’ve had goats and such go missing when all the panic buying started a month ago

They are not " survivors " , they are poachers.
That is a lame excuse for a poacher.
You don't have to poach to survive.
I don't care how you try to spin it , they are poachers.
I have no use for poachers.
If everyone went out and poached whenever they wanted there would be no game left to hunt.

The natural human condition,... hunger, instills hunting and foraging.

Hopefully, tyranny will inspire the same natural human reaction!

Everyone has their opinion. In most circumstances, you are correct to quote the legal violation term. But, in the deep back country of the USofA , where some families would not eat, if they had to go through the system to be legal, poaching is, and has been, a way of life for centuries.

I am all for preventing "poaching" around heavily human populated areas, with light animal populations!! No one can argue with that!

But, to me, those are two separate realities,... to be understood and dealt with,... with two separate reactions, imo. Folks in the deep back country of this Nation, don't even consider HUNTING to fill their bellies, as, POACHING!

Sometimes, one size, doesn't fit all, imo.

It doesn't matter where you live.
You can spin it anyway you want and call it anything you want , but poaching is poaching.
Just because someone lives in what you say is " back country " , doesn't mean they are any worse off than anyone else.
There are more people going hungry in the cities than there are in any " back country ".
There is no big crises or end of the world situation going on anywhere in the US where poaching would be considered survival.
It's a BS excuse.

Not as long as it is in an area that is legal to hunt and the owners don't care.
You would also need a hunting license.
There is no limit on rabbits.

Ballistic Therapy ,... obviously you have never been hungry,... really hunger!!

Hungry folks in cities have a multitude of avenues to get a hot meal,.... not always so, in very rural America.

Do you believe one should go to bed hungry, or have children go to bed hungry, because they don't pay for a piece paper, from the Government,... yet have the means and skills to feed themselves as their ancestors have done for centuries?

My father grew up on the east coast during the depression. He was the oldest son of 9 children. He had the daily task of hunting rabbit, and fowl of any kind, to feed his brothers and sisters. Should he have watched his mother and siblings go to bed hungry, by complying with the law, as you demand?

Ya, I know that was a long time ago,... but, for some folks in this country,... it isn't so long ago!

Obviously we won't agree on this one,... so, may I suggest,... we just agree, to disagree?

My father grew up during the depression also.
His parents died when he was a small boy. He basically raised himself and his two sisters. He knew all about going hungry.

I have 7 brothers and sisters. We raised just about everything we ate when I was a kid.
We didn't have any money and we never went hungry , but we did eat rice pudding or pancakes for days on end because there was nothing else to eat.
I know all about being poor and we never broke the law to eat.
