Shooting Outdoor Locations
Hi. I'm relatively new to AZ and new to this forum. I recently purchased my first AR-15. I'd like to take it out and zero it in, but the indoor ranges are 25 yards and I'd like to zero at 50, and then shoot out to 100 or 200 yards. Anyone know of any outdoor areas that are free, that I can go out and shoot? I'm in San Tan Valley. Thanks.

Price Road in Florence has a couple of spots, might not be 50 yards though.

That place has become so unsafe I’ll never go there again.
Every idiot with a new gun and no range manners shows up out there.

I agree, never know what you will get. I went there a couple of months ago and there were some pretty cool people there and no issues. But yeah it's a bit popular and easy to get to so anyone can get there. I'd love to find some 4x4 places out that way. Narrows down the crowd quite a bit.Gunslinger808 wrote: ↑May 2nd, 2023, 11:23 amYeah, no.campinginaz wrote: ↑April 30th, 2023, 3:49 pm Price Road in Florence has a couple of spots, might not be 50 yards though.

If your up too, and willing to drive. Plus have a really good mapping app/GPS unit. Off of I8 & Vekol valley rd. On the south side of the 8. There is a strip of BLM land once you pass the JJ Ranch (stay right at the fork). But, and this is a huge one, the slice is dead between reservation land to the west, and an active ranch to the east, and last time I was there a planned development going in north of the fork.
But, with a 4X4, or high clearance short wheelbase you can head to the back areas. I used to shoot 700 yards with a mountain as a backdrop regularly with nobody else around.
It is semi raw desert, so there will be rattlers and such.
